Highest Bungy Jump Reopens in China

INTERNATIONAL: If you’re looking for the ultimate high-adrenaline experience, look no further than the province of Hunan in China. Straddled between two cliffs, a 430m glass-bottomed suspension bridge offers the world's highest bungy jump.

The Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, which opened in 2016, stretches over a valley in the beautiful Zhangjiajie Park, said to have inspired the scenery for the sci-fi movie "Avatar." Visitors can take a leap from a height of 260m, a stomach-stirring plunge that takes in views of the surrounding UNESCO World Heritage Site. The bungy jumping operation recently reopened with Covid restrictions easing in Hunan.

Operator Jonni Deaker says business has been building slowly back as domestic tourists begin to return to the region after a drop in international tourism. He says they are probably averaging twenty jumps a day, but jumps this high – and their bragging rights - don’t come cheap. If you’re looking to buy a ticket, even with the current discount, it’ll still cost you around $300.
